Sound Bath & Yoga Flow with Lauren Banister & Michelle Ayazi

  • Soma Yoga & Wellness 9951 San Pablo Avenue El Cerrito, CA, 94530 United States (map)

Recharge and restore balance with a gentle yoga practice and an immersive sound bath meditation. We’ll first release tension and cultivate body, breath, and energy awareness through slow, mindful yoga. Modifications will be offered to ensure the practice is accessible to students of all levels. You will then settle into a restorative pose and let the healing sound waves of crystal bowls, koshi chimes, and an ocean wave drum wash over and through you. These sound waves and vibrations will soothe the nervous system, ushering you into a state of deep relaxation, which will help you release energy blockages and allow the body to do the deep work of healing.

Meet your instructors:

Lauren Banister is a Yoga Therapist with over 2,000 hours of teaching experience. She specializes in slower, somatics-based practices that are taught with creative sequencing, rich philosophy, and a sense of humor. In addition to Yoga, Lauren loves dancing, cooking, travel, and social justice. She believes that building community through Yoga truly has the power to create positive social change, as students take what they learn on the mat out into the world beyond.

Michelle Ayazi is the proud daughter of Iranian immigrants and a lifelong student of Sufism, the mystical dimension of Islam. She has been trained in the practice of Tamarkoz (Sufi meditation) and is approved to teach Tamarkoz by Hazrat Salaheddin Ali Nader Angha from Maktab Tarighat Oveyssi Shahmaghsoudi School of Islamic Sufism, the current Sufi master of the 1,400-year-old school of Sufism.
