Return to Rhythm 30 Day Yoga Challenge

Rediscover your rhythm, reconnect with your practice, and prepare your body and mind for the season ahead.

+ win Soma swag & 10% off October membership!

Autumn is the perfect time to return to the rhythm of your practice. This 30-Day Yoga Challenge is designed to help you reset, reconnect, and build steady roots through consistent practice. By showing up now, you’re nourishing yourself in a way that will carry you through the quieter, slower months of winter.

How It Works

Take as many classes as you can from September 1st-30th. Every class and event you attend counts. Come once a day or more — it all adds up!

We’ll have a Challenge Board in the Soma lobby where you will write your name in and mark off each class or event you attend to track your progress.

The participant with the most classes wins Soma Swag + 10% off their next monthly membership! This challenge is open to all students — new and existing members alike.

Why Join

Consistency is where the magic happens. This isn’t just about winning — it’s about rediscovering your rhythm, reconnecting with your practice, and preparing your body and mind for the season ahead. What you cultivate now will support and sustain you, your loved ones and community through the coming months.

How To Join

Add your name to the Challenge Board when it goes up in the lobby and mark off each class you attend. Every day you practice is a step closer to finding a rhythm.

If you already have a Membership or 10-Class Pack, you’re all set to jump in. Thinking of practicing often? Our Unlimited Yoga Membership ($169/month) is the best value during the challenge. If you currently hold a Mini Membership and would like to switch to Unlimited Membership, please email us here.

Return to rhythm, and let your practice lead the way.

Yoga Foundations: A Beginner’s Workshop

Yoga Foundations: A Beginner’s Workshop

A 2-hour workshop introduction to yoga designed to help you feel comfortable, confident, and at home in your practice.

Have you always wanted to try yoga, but felt unsure where to begin?

Maybe you've worried you're not flexible enough. Maybe group classes feel intimidating. Or perhaps you've been practicing for some time and would like to deepen your understanding of foundational poses, alignment, modifications, and safety.

You're not alone.

Yoga Foundations was created to offer a welcoming, supportive entry point into yoga—one that prioritizes comfort, confidence, and connection over performance.

During this workshop, you'll learn the foundations of yoga in a small-group setting where questions are encouraged, modifications are celebrated, and there is absolutely no expectation to "keep up."

Together, we'll explore:

• Foundational yoga poses and modifications
• Breathwork and nervous system awareness
• Yoga props and how to use them
• Common yoga terminology and studio etiquette
• Meditation and relaxation practices
• How a yoga class flows from beginning to end
• Ways to adapt yoga for your unique body and needs

This workshop is perfect for:

• Complete beginners
• Anyone returning to yoga after time away
• People who feel intimidated by group classes
• Those seeking a slower, more supportive introduction to practice

You do not need prior yoga experience.
You do not need to be flexible.
You do not need the “right” clothes, body, or knowledge.

You simply need a curiosity and willingness to begin.

By the end of this workshop, you'll feel more familiar with the studio environment, more confident navigating a yoga class, and more connected to your body and breath.

Most importantly, you'll cultivate a greater sense of trust, belonging, and confidence within yourself and your practice.

Workshop Details:

Saturday, October 10th
2:00–4:00 PM
at Soma Yoga & Wellness - 9951 San Pablo Ave. El Cerrito, CA

Cost: $49

Space is limited to support personalized attention, questions, and meaningful connection.

We can't wait to welcome you!

Connecting to Your Authentic Self: A Four Week Kundalini Yoga Journey

Four weeks to awaken, listen, embody, & align with your authentic self through Kundalini Yoga

Connecting to Your Authentic Self : A Four-Week Kundalini Yoga Journey

Four Saturdays · 1:30–3:00 PM
Oct 17 · Oct 24 · Oct 31 · Nov 7
$36 per workshop | $88 full series

Join Leila Chambers, Jenny Overman, Carolina Vega, and Alison E. Berman for a four-week exploration of Kundalini Yoga, meditation, breathwork, movement, and self-inquiry.

Each 90-minute workshop offers a unique perspective while contributing to a shared journey toward greater self-awareness, embodiment, and self-trust. While each session can be experienced on its own, the four workshops are intentionally designed to build upon one another:

Awaken → Listen → Embody → Align

The Four
Week Journey

Week 1 | October 17 · 1:30–3:00 PM
Tending the Garden of Your Mind
with Leila Chambers

A peaceful heart begins by tending the garden of the mind. In this workshop, we'll explore the physiology of how the mind works—including the thoughts and patterns that arise to keep us safe—and the experience of the meditative mind that allows us to witness those thoughts with greater awareness and kindness.

Through repetitive movement, breath, meditation, and Kundalini practices, we'll cultivate the ability to observe the mind without becoming consumed by it, creating space to reconnect with the quiet that already lives within.

Week 2 | October 24 · 1:30–3:00 PM
Grounding Into Your True Self
with Jenny Overman

This special full moon in Taurus invites us to slow down, ground, and reconnect with the simple pleasures of being alive.

Through Kundalini Yoga, breath, meditation, and Taurus-inspired practices, we'll explore embodied joy, ease, nourishment, and love. Together, we'll create space to settle into the body and reconnect with what feels steady, nourishing, and true.

Week 3 | October 31 · 1:30–3:00 PM
The Body as Your Guide
with Carolina Vega

In our fast-paced world, we rarely pause long enough to listen to our bodies. What is your body asking for? More rest? Nourishment? Softness? Expansion? Joy?

Through Kundalini Yoga, breath, and meditation, we'll reconnect with our senses and create space to listen more deeply to the body's wisdom and guidance.

Week 4 | November 7 · 1:30–3:00 PM
Embodying the Wisdom of Your Authentic Self
with Alison E. Berman

What becomes possible when we stop striving to become someone else and instead listen to the wisdom already within us?

Through a trauma-sensitive approach to Kundalini Yoga, this practice invites you to listen, trust your inner knowing, and cultivate your wise mind. We'll explore what it means to embody your authentic self with greater presence, creativity, and ease.

What to Expect

Each 90-minute workshop will follow the general arc of a Kundalini Yoga practice while exploring the theme of the week.

You can expect:

  • Arrival and grounding

  • A short dharma talk and introduction to the week's theme

  • Warm-ups and pranayama

  • A thematic Kundalini kriya

  • Mantra and meditation

  • A shared 11-minute meditation

  • Savasana and time for integration

The spacious 90-minute format allows time to slow down, learn about the practices, and settle more deeply into the experience. No previous Kundalini Yoga experience is necessary. The series is designed to welcome beginners as well as experienced practitioners, with accessible options offered throughout.

Is Kundalini Yoga right for me?

The series is beginner-friendly and modifications will be offered throughout. Kundalini Yoga may include practices such as Breath of Fire, breath retention, inversions, and sustained movement or holding the arms overhead.

If you have a cardiovascular condition, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or another medical concern that may affect your participation, please consult your healthcare provider before attending.

Modifications and alternatives for pregnancy will be offered, and you're always encouraged to rest or opt out of any practice that doesn't feel appropriate for you.

Sound Bath Meditation

Journey through the magic of healing sound

Sound and music have been regarded as healing and medicinal tools of body, mind, and spirit across cultures and from the beginning of time, playing an important role in individual and social wellness. Modern science has proven that the body’s nervous system responds to healing sound vibration by inducing the relaxation response and meditative mind, as our muscles, bones, tissues, internal organs, cells and molecules are gently massaged. This greatly reduces stress, enhances wellbeing, and triggers additional successful healing transformation of the physical and energetic subtle bodies, leading to higher consciousness breakthroughs.

During your group Sound Bath with Fawntice Finesse, the Tibetan singing bowls, bells, gong, and other sacred instruments are mindfully played, enveloping you in healing sound vibrations. Start with a brief informative discussion, seated intention setting meditation, then lay on your mat comfortably & cozily while journeying with the magic of healing sound.

Tantra Meditation: Exploring Non-dual Awareness with Acharya Purnata

A meditation for presence and inner connection.

$25 drop in, or use your membership!

What is Tantra Meditation?
Rooted in the nondual tradition of Trika Śaivism, this practice invites you into a direct, embodied experience of awareness as it truly is—whole, unified, and inherently divine. Tantra, in this context, is not about adding anything new, but about recognizing the sacred energy that is already present within you and all of life.

Through meditation, we gently attune to this inner current—often referred to as kundalni or shakti—the innate, intelligent energy that animates our being. As this awareness deepens, it can begin to soften long-held tensions, open pathways for creativity and insight, and illuminate our true nature beyond separation.Within this space, there may also be moments of energetic transmission—a subtle yet powerful sharing of presence and awareness. This offering can support a deepening into stillness, connection, and inner recognition, allowing each participant to access the living current of awareness in their own direct experience.

What to Expect
Each session includes guided meditation, teachings rooted in the tantric nondual tradition, and space for direct experience. Participants are invited to explore at their own pace, supported in connecting with the deeper layers of self in a grounded and welcoming environment.

About Acharya Purnata

Acharya Purnata has been teaching Kundalini Sadhana since 2015 when he was initiated by Swami Khecaranatha as an Acharya in the Nityananda Rudrananda Sampradayam Lineage. Petals & Fire: Awakening the Feminine Body - A 6-Hour Women’s Embodiment Retreat

A 6-Hour Women’s Embodiment Retreat

with Brittany Dominix
at Soma Yoga & Wellness

April 11, 2026 | 2-8p

Petals & Fire is an invitation into the feminine body as both softness and power — tenderness and truth, devotion and liberation.

This six-hour women’s immersion weaves Yin yoga, breathwork, non-linear movement, archetypal embodiment, and conscious relational practices to support a deep remembering of the body as a source of wisdom, pleasure, and clarity.

We will move slowly.
We will listen deeply.
We will honour choice at every step.

The Archetypal Currents We’ll Explore

Throughout the day, we will work with three archetypal energies that live within the feminine body:

Kali — the fire of liberation, boundaries, and truth
Lakshmi — the petals of worth, sensuality, and receiving
Radha — the devotion of longing, love, and relational presence

These archetypes are not roles to perform or identities to adopt. They are embodied currents — felt through the hips, breath, heart, and voice — offering doorways into deeper self-trust and aliveness.

What the Day Includes

Petals & Fire unfolds through a carefully held arc of descent, activation, connection, and integration, including:

  • A grounding opening circle and sacred container

  • Yin yoga to deeply settle the nervous system and soften the body

  • Breathwork and non-linear movement to awaken life force

  • Guided reflection and connection with other women

  • Teaching and Q&A around embodiment, sexual energy, and consent

  • Archetype embodiment practices (solo and small-group)

  • Hip-focused movement and choice-based partner exploration

  • A closing ritual for integration and devotion

All practices are trauma-aware, consent-centred, and invitation-based. Rest, observation, and modification are always welcome.

This Retreat Is For You If

  • You want to feel more at home in your body

  • You are curious about feminine embodiment, pleasure, and power

  • You long for depth without pressure or performance

  • You want to explore sexual energy as life force — grounded and respectful

  • You value nervous-system safety, choice, and integrity

No prior yoga or embodiment experience is required.

What You’ll Leave With

  • A deeper sense of embodiment and self-trust

  • Greater clarity around boundaries and desire

  • An embodied relationship to pleasure and rest

  • Tools for continued integration after the retreat

  • A felt connection to the archetypal energies of Kali, Lakshmi, and Radha

Date, Time & Location

Date: Saturday, April 11, 2026

Each offering is thoughtfully crafted to meet you exactly where you are and gently invite you into the raw, unfiltered truth of being human. Her teaching encourages a courageous shedding of layers, revealing the inherent wholeness and truth that lies within. Infused with wisdom from ancient texts, the natural world, poetry, and her own soul’s connection to the ever-present pulse of love, Brittany’s classes offer more than just physical practice—they are portals to inner alchemy. Expect to walk away changed, even if only subtly. Beyond the studio, Brittany is a lover of quiet magic: she delights in curling up with a good book and a warm cup of tea, immersing herself in backwoods camping adventures, soaking in long, lazy afternoons by the ocean, and exploring the wonder of the world with open-hearted curiosity. Kundalini Meditation & Shakti Transmission with Acharya Purnata

to Mar 29

Kundalini Meditation & Shakti Transmission with Acharya Purnata

Awaken the powerful transformative force known as kundalini.

Two Sundays:
March 1st & 29th

$25 per session

About Kundalini Meditation
The teachings of Heart of Consciousness focus on Kuṇḍalinī Sādhana — an ancient spiritual practice in the nondual tradition of Trika Śaivism. It allows individuals to deeply experience their own direct, inner connection to the Divine. This practice focuses on awakening the powerful transformative force called kuṇḍalinī, the divine energy that is always present within every human being. When it flows through us, kuṇḍalinī can wash away our deepest tensions, expand the flow of creative energy, and eliminate our misunderstandings about our true nature.

What is Shakti Transmission?
Through shakti transmission, there is a direct conveyance of spiritual energy from teacher to student that gives the student a concrete experience of the vital force that connects all things and binds us together as one. Śakti transmission is a catalyst for profound spiritual unfoldment, culminating in Self-realization.

During these sessions, we will learn about this practice, learn specific meditation practices, and engage in Shakti Transmission. Purnata will connect directly with each student to provide energetic support in connecting with the deeper parts of themselves.

About Acharya Purnata

Acharya Purnata has been teaching Kundalini Sadhana since 2015 when he was initiated by Swami Khecaranatha as an Acharya in the Nityananda Rudrananda Sampradayam Lineage. Purnata is a clear channel for the grace of this lineage His classes include chanting, guided meditation, śakti transmission, and discussion.

Kirtan with
Rasa Lila

Friday, June 13
7:00–8:30 PM
$25

Join us for a heart-opening evening of Kirtan—a sacred musical gathering of mantra, rhythm, and devotion—with the luminous Rasa Lila.

Rasa Lila features:

  • Joanna Manqueros on harmonium and vocals — host of Music of the World on KPFA, harmonium student of Sukhawat Ali Khan, and longtime Bhakti practitioner.

  • John Kadyk on bass clarinet — a dynamic performer with the African band Onye and the Messengers.

  • Jesse Sheehan on bansuri and tabla — a gifted multi-instrumentalist who studied music in India.

Together, they create a rich tapestry of sound, weaving traditional Sanskrit mantras with Sufi influences, offering an experience that is both rooted and expansive.

Whether you're new to Kirtan or a longtime lover of chanting and mantra, this is an invitation to sing, listen, and connect—to yourself, to the sacred, and to community.

$25 | All are welcome. No experience necessary. Come as you are and be uplifted by the power of sound.
