Yoga Foundations: A Beginner Series

A 3-week introduction to yoga designed to help you feel comfortable, confident, and at home in your practice.

Have you always wanted to try yoga, but felt unsure where to begin?

Maybe you've worried you're not flexible enough. Maybe group classes feel intimidating. Or perhaps you've been practicing for some time and would like to deepen your understanding of foundational poses, alignment, modifications, and safety.

You're not alone.

Yoga Foundations was created to offer a welcoming, supportive entry point into yoga—one that prioritizes comfort, confidence, and connection over performance.

Over the course of three weeks, you'll learn the foundations of yoga in a small-group setting where questions are encouraged, modifications are celebrated, and there is absolutely no expectation to "keep up."

Together, we'll explore:

• Foundational yoga poses and modifications
• Breathwork and nervous system awareness
• Yoga props and how to use them
• Common yoga terminology and studio etiquette
• Meditation and relaxation practices
• How a yoga class flows from beginning to end
• Ways to adapt yoga for your unique body and needs

This series is perfect for:

• Complete beginners
• Anyone returning to yoga after time away
• People who feel intimidated by group classes
• Those seeking a slower, more supportive introduction to practice

You do not need prior yoga experience.
You do not need to be flexible.
You do not need the “right” clothes, body, or knowledge.

You simply need a curiosity and willingness to begin.

By the end of this series, you'll feel more familiar with the studio environment, more confident navigating a yoga class, and more connected to your body and breath.

Most importantly, you'll cultivate a greater sense of trust, belonging, and confidence within yourself and your practice.

Meet Your Teacher & Guide, Natalie Somers

Natalie Somers is the founder and owner of Soma Yoga & Wellness, an experienced E-RYT® 500 yoga teacher with over a decade of teaching experience throughout the Bay Area. She has devoted years of study to Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga, Ayurveda, Bhakti Yoga, breathwork, and somatic movement.

Known for her warm, compassionate approach and clear, intentional guidance, Natalie creates spaces where students feel supported, empowered, and welcome exactly as they are. Her teaching blends movement, breath, mindfulness, and a healthy dose of humor, helping students cultivate greater awareness, confidence, and trust in their own bodies.

Natalie believes yoga is not about achieving the perfect pose, but about developing a deeper relationship with yourself. Rather than prescribing a one-size-fits-all approach to alignment, she encourages students to listen closely to their own inner wisdom and honor the unique needs of their body.

Whether you're stepping onto a yoga mat for the first time or looking to strengthen your foundations, Natalie is passionate about helping students feel comfortable, confident, and at home in their practice.
