Soma Rituals

daily practices to ground and nourish

This handcrafted daily ritual is rooted in the wisdom of yoga and Ayurveda. It’s offered as a practice of grounding, and a daily reminder of warmth and support.

Let’s meditate.

A tin container labeled 'Herbal Chai' from Soma Rituals, along with cinnamon sticks, black peppercorns, and coriander seeds on a light-colored surface, with a dark blue gift box and a cream-colored ribbon in the background.

Start by simmering your chai.

Place the chai blend in a medium pot of water. Bring to a gentle simmer and allow it to cook slowly for 30 minutes, letting the aroma fill your space.

This scent is part of the ritual—it signals the body to soften and arrive.

You can continue to add water and gently simmer the same chai over 1–2 days, allowing the intention to deepen with each sip.

Then, find a quiet place to sit.

Find a clear, comfortable place where you won’t be rushed. Light your candle and take a few slow breaths to open the space.

Creating a simple, intentional container helps signal safety to the body and prepares the mind for rest.

Examples: a comfortable chair looking out of your favorite window; sitting next to your plants, crystals, or deities; anywhere that feels cozy.

Warm & oil the body (Abhyanga)

Warm a small amount of oil in your palms by rubbing them together, allowing gentle heat to build. Begin at the feet and move slowly up the legs, using soft circles around the joints and long, steady strokes along the bones. Massage the hands and arms, guiding the touch inward toward the heart. Offer a little extra care to the low back, belly, chest, and neck.

Oiling the body brings warmth and a sense of containment, helping to settle excess movement in the nervous system and invite calm.

Rest in stillness for a few moments.

Remain comfortably seated or lie down, allowing the body to soften. Let the eyes close gently or lower your gaze.

Begin by noticing the points of contact beneath you, the weight of your body resting, supported.

Feel the warmth of the oil on your skin.
Sense how it is being received, how the body knows what to do with nourishment.

Bring your awareness to the breath.
There is nothing to change, simply notice the natural rhythm of inhaling and exhaling.

With each exhale, allow yourself to settle a little more. Let the to-do’s fall away.

If it feels supportive, bring the tongue gently to the upper roof of the mouth.

Allow the jaw and shoulders to soften.

Silently repeat with the breath:
Inhale — So
Exhale — Hum

Let the mantra move at the pace of your breath, slow and steady. Nine rounds, or as many as feel right.

As the chai simmers, imagine warmth spreading through your body — down the legs, through the belly and chest, up the spine.

You are held.
You are supported.
There is nowhere else to be.

Rest here for a few more breaths, then gently begin to transition back, carrying this steadiness with you.

Journal Reflection

After your ritual or later in the day, reflect with one of the following prompts:

  • What helped me feel most grounded today?

  • Where do I notice warmth or ease in my body right now?

  • What would it feel like to move through today with a little more softness?

You may write a few words or a full page—trust what wants to come through.

Closing the Ritual

Before moving on with your day, pause for one final breath. Acknowledge yourself for tending to your inner world.

You may return to the candle, breath, and self-massage daily for deeper, more embodied results, especially in the morning or evening.

This ritual is meant to support steadiness, warmth, and presence. Adapt it as needed. Your practice will evolve as you do.

With care,
